Uncompromising Hard Rock with Variety in the Works
Band: Hego Crazyboy
Genre: Rock
For fans of: Avenged Sevenfold, Metallica, CKY
Founded: 2022
From: Greenville, South Carolina
If you’ve ever wanted to say, “I was a fan of these guys since day one!” then now’s your chance.
Hego Crazyboy is an ensemble of experienced rockers from Greenville, South Carolina that just hit the scene with their first ever release. “Burn it Down” is a no-nonsense hard rock debut track that commands a headbanging response from the opening riff on.
“Everyone has their own musical style and preference,” said guitarist Porter Dowdy, “and it’s exciting to see how everyone’s style comes together into one song.”
Guitarist Leo Santana agreed, also adding, “Music is like a language. When you learn something new, you can use it to communicate and interact in new ways.”
Sound: Metal-Leaning Rock with Catchy Sensibility
In just one commercial release, the Hego Crazyboy guys have already demonstrated their ability to combine separate influences into one cohesive package that maintains a very clear sonic direction. Each member is able to shine without distracting from the groove that keeps you listening.
“This band is still pretty much brand new,” said vocalist Chase Brown. “Fortunately we got most of our lessons we had to learn out of the way in previous bands.”
Hego Crazyboy has definitely hit the ground running. They’re very inspiring right out the gate, having already written or recorded over 30 songs, with several music videos in preproduction. “Burn It Down” was the first song they ever wrote together. Sometimes everything just clicks!

Songwriting Insights
Hego Crazyboy’s uncompromising hard rock sound weaves in a lot of exciting stylistic choices that the band is sure to expand upon in future releases.
Chase Brown: “The songwriting usually starts with a riff, and then we let that drive the song and see where it goes next.”
“Burn It Down” does just that, staying true to the tone that the opening riff creates for the entire 3 minute runtime. The band isn’t afraid to throw in little glimpses of their influences from other genres as well, even venturing into ska territory at around 2:22 into the track.
For the most part, the track will be a huge hit with anyone who misses the sound of mainstream 2000s rock that so many of us know and love.

Thoughts On Music Industry Success
“First, just practice, practice, practice,” said Chase. “But also, as sad as it is, you gotta learn the business side of things and the social media side of things. These days it’s not enough anymore to just be really good at your instrument.”
Leo Santana: “The music industry is more just the entertainment industry now. It’s not just the music industry, it’s the entertainment industry.” He referenced how artists need to have the complete artistic package in order to be heard, arguably even more now than ever.
“That’s why we’re trying to release a music video with every track,” said Chase. The band really understands how to engage the viewer. They keep it simple where it needs to be, go technical where there’s chances to, and mix it up rhythmically or melodically with fills throughout.
What's Next for Hego Crazyboy
Hego Crazyboy have a back logged release schedule, with over 30 songs ready to be released with videos.
“What really takes the longest is the music videos, but they definitely help the releases have more impact” said Porter.
